2025, hand woven cotton

Generative (In)tension explores how we perceive, misread, and find meaning in patterns. At first glance the woven structure appears orderly but, on closer inspection, subtle colour shifts, optical illusions, and (un)intentional disruptions are revealed. These variations challenge the idea of perfection—a value often prioritized in Western culture that can create exclusion rather than inclusion. The work invites viewers to engage with uncertainty, question assumptions, and consider alternative perspectives shaped by diverse sensory and cognitive experiences.
