Are you a teacher with the Vancouver School Board interested in learning more about materials based art explorations?
I'm excited to be offering two teacher sessions that will explore textiles from various perspectives. We'll discover a number of cost effective ways of bringing cloth and fibre into your classrooms through design exercises with readily available materials to practical methods of working with fibres.
Art is a way of seeing, experiencing and expressing our thoughts and feelings about who we are, our relationship with others and the world around us. The best way to help students develop skills and confidence in the visual arts is to experience the art making process for oneself.
All VSB teachers are invited to come, explore and develop their creative potential through a series of open studio sessions in drawing, painting, textiles and printmaking led by experienced artists and art educators. These two-part sessions will offer instruction and hands on exploration in a specific visual arts medium. Teachers will develop skills and confidence in their own creative abilities and ideas for incorporating aspects of this learning into the classroom for students. All skill levels welcome.
